About Peter

Iron Golf Mind author_page picWith over 30 years of coaching experience, 20 of them successfully coaching at State and National level as well as driving golf programmes for the Australian Institute of Sport, Golf Australia, Golf Victoria, NSW Golf and NSW Institute of Sport, Peter completely understands how an athlete’s mindset can enhance or inhibit their ability to compete successfully.

Much of Peter’s professional life has been spent working closely with sports psychologists as well as undertaking extensive training of his own.  A lifetime of experiences in sport, business and coaching has shaped his coaching philosophy.

“Attitudes to sport and life are linked; you will think and act in a way that is consistent with your self-concept and self-image and this will be reflected in your training and performance.”

Peter Knight

Peter has written numerous articles for golf magazines and other publications with many of them referring to a coach’s ability to improve their craft without necessarily understanding anything more about technique.  The key is for the coach to understand, apply and achieve excellence in interpersonal communication, learning styles and mental and emotional training.

Peter is one of only three Master Professionals with the Australian PGA.  The study he conducted and wrote about in order to achieve his Master Professional status was titled Peak Performance States for Elite Golfers.

Peter has held a Master Practitioner accreditation and Graduate Certificate in Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) since 2000.  NLP is the study of excellence in thinking, communicating and behaviour.

A sought-after presenter, Peter regularly speaks on topics related to performance, success mindset, high performance planning and training.  He is a coaching editor for Golf Australia magazine and provides regular video and written blog posts on the Golf Possibilities and Melbourne Golf Coach websites.
